THE CONCEPT OF LAND USE DEVELOPMENT OF A MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE LANDFILL: THE CEGŁÓW COMMUNE CASE STUDY

The presence of municipal solid waste landfills is an inevitable spatial phenomenon that expresses the planning properties of the process of land use, economic development and the relationship to the environment. The process of land use is continuous, in which a period of planning, development and management of its operation is followed by a period of decline in the performance of (aging) and the fall of the land. Closing the landfill and reclamation results in the appearance of problem areas, i.e. of degraded areas both on the site and in the area of its influence. The paper presents the concept of development of a closed municipal solid waste landfill in the village Woźbin in the commune Cegłów and adjacent areas. According to the ‘Project of closure and reclamation of municipal solid waste landfill in the village Woźbin, in the commune Cegłów' after the operation of the landfill as well as the technical and biological reclamation, can be implemented forest restoration direction. The concept of developing the reclaimed municipal landfill and the adjacent land is assumed to introduce the planned forest reclamation and complement the recreational function which will increase the attractiveness of the area and will enable its use in ...

Environmental compensation and mitigation impacts of road investments in EIA in Poland

Planning and spatial management are very often associated with the best providing human needs that require adjustment to environmental conditions. Thus interpreted, the rational spatial management brings many benefits to the local community, often the price of it is the degradation of the environment. System solutions reduce the negative effects of the investment on the environment and society. As a part of that, an investment in the implementation of apply optimal solutions in terms of environmental and social protection are procedures for environmental impact assessments (EIA). The aim of this study was to determine the operations to minimize negative environmental impacts and methods of environmental compensation in EIA procedures in the planning and implementation of the linear investments in Poland on A2 highway from Stryków I to Konotopa section 'E' case study. To determine the most effective mitigation methods the negative impact of the highway and activities in terms of environmental protection, simplified EIA was carried out. The most threatened elements of the natural and social environment were identified: groundwater, soil, human health, acoustic climate. ...

Redevelopment of natural aggregates post-mining areas: the Sitno depo sit case study

Open-cost mining of natural aggregates deposits, causes considerable negative change of the natural environment: geological, hydrological, pedological, surface features, decrease of biodiversity. Surface mining industry by the reason of huge scale of transformation, caused is very often negatively perceived by society. The aim of this study was creation of concept of demoted post-mining areas development of natural aggregates open pit Sitno in community Rzewnie. Preparing of redevelopment concept was preceded by the analysis of natural and geological values, localization of the object as well as the records of local development plan. On the base of the results of analysis, introduction of proper vegetation was suggested, first of all, creation of psammophilic vegetation garden, which will constitute a recreation - holiday park, which would fulfill educational functions and bring up esthetic values at the same time. Manner of developing of water bodies, creation of the network of ways and boulevards as well as residential objects were proposed. The creating a new function of territories on natural aggregates open pit will increase ecological, tourist, and landscaping value of Rzewnie commune. ...

Application of semivariance analysis for estimating So2 concentration in atmospheric air

A characteristic feature of the phenomena occurring in the atmospheric air is the existence of autocorrelation. With tools geostatistics is possible to identify modeling and estimation of the state of contamination of the air. The phenomenon of autocorrelation shows that the results of measurements that are adjacent to each other in time and space are more alike than more distant measurements. The existence of autocorrelation time can be the basis for estimating the value of the measurement location. To study the autocorrelation time gas concentrations and aerosols used semivariance analysis. Knowledge of semivariance parameters allows you to use the best uncompressed linear estimation method which is kriging. The paper presents an example of application semivariance analysis of ambient air quality status for the area of the province. An evaluation of spatial and temporal autocorrelation in the Silesia province based on the basic parameters such as range of impact , and the effect of the threshold nuggets. The analysis results show the semivariance as a function of the linear relationship between distant the points and the degree of their similarity. The existence of spatial autocorrelation provides a basis for modeling and estimation using stochastic methods. ...

Rational developing of staroźreby commune in the light of principles of environmental protection

Poland is third in Europe after France and Spain in terms of participation in use of agricultural soils and share of agricultural lands in the whole area of country. Diversity of natural conditions, mainly soil, in the particular communes dictates the need to diversify production profile. This represents a shift of production towards the right for a small scale, with an emphasis on specialization in several areas of the community. The commune Staroźreby belongs to the problem areas such as backward, peripheral or located in economically depressed. The aim of this study was to determine the principles of rational development of community Staroźreby taking into account existing soil and environmental protection principles. Soil and environmental conditions of community Staroźreby promote the use of environmental resources due to: (i) landform features, (ii) the favorable climatic conditions, (iii) adequate water conditions, (iv) soil conditions, (v) a high total value CVAPA, (vi) the low level of industrialization. Agricultural use of natural resources of Staroźreby community will be associated with increasing share of specialized farmsteads (eg, breeding pigs, cattle, gardening). The main problems of agricultural development in the commune Staroźreby result of: (i) unfavorable agricultural structure, (ii) a large share of low-fertility soils, ...
