The work aimed at the assessment of working of a household sewage treat-ment plant based on a horizontal flow sand filter.Physicochemical analyses of chosen pollution indexes (BZT5, ChZTCr, total suspension, total phosphorus) were carried out and compared with currently in force values of these indexes according to the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 24th July 2006. On this basis the operation of the sewage treat-ment plant was assessed. Raw, initially treated and treated sewage samples were taken from December 2008 to March 2009. Physicochemical analysis was carried out in the Laboratory of the Department of Sanitary Engineering and Water Man-agement of the University of Agriculture in Kraków. The gathered results of tests and their analysis conducted in the paper showed the proper working of the household sewage treatment plant.     ...

STUDIES ON THE EFFICIENCY OF SEWAGE TREATMENT IN CHOOSEN CONSTRUCTED WETLAND SYSTEMS

Ensuring water supply and sewage management are among the primary tasks of every commune, and they are also the condition for multi-functional de-velopment of rural areas. Positive changes in the area of providing communes with the basic water mains-sewerage infrastructure mean an improvement in the living conditions for the population and for the functioning of companies. For many years intensive work has been going on in Poland, aimed at ensuring a suitable status of the environment, especially in rural areas where still a lot needs to be done in this respect. At the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries numerous water supply and sewerage systems have been built in those areas, as well as many household and collective sewage treatment plants. One of the provinces where the largest number of household sewage treatment systems have been built is the Lublin Province. The technological most frequently applied here include systems based on the use of a septic tank and filtration drainage, systems with a biological bed or active sludge, as well as hybrid systems (biological bed + active sludge). Less popular, on the other hand, are constructed wetland systems, probably because their construction requires plots with ...

Efficiency of wastewater treatment on the example in „Lipnica Wielka” sewage treatment plant

In the article presents effectiveness of sewage treatment in Sewage Treatment Plant in Lipnica Wielka. The domestic sewage follow into the Sewage Treatment Plant in gravity system. The method used for sewage treatment is based on the active sludge method with chemical precipitation of phosphor. The research was carried out in the period from March 2009 to June 2010. The analysis was performed on samples of raw and treated sewage. Three indicators of pollutants were analysed: BOD5, COD, total suspended solids. Furthermore was determined the volume of sewage flowing into the sewage treatment plant.Basing on the results analysis, effectiveness of BOD5 reduction was defined on the level of 96,23%, COD- 91,42% and total suspended solids - 95,71%. Also it was observed that research of volume of sewage flowing into the sewage treatment plant, were indicated a hydraulically underload.     ...

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DOMESTIC SEWAGE TREATMENT IN A HOUSEHOLD SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT WITH A MODIFIED GRAVEL AND SAND FILTER

Untreated domestic sewerage still poses a serious threat to the environment in ruralareas. The lack of simultaneous construction of water supply and sewerage systemsin rural areas contributed to the significant imbalance between water supply and sewagedischarge. Raw sewage, entering the natural receiver, cause rapid degradation oflife and contribute to the biological imbalance in the environment. Untreated sewagecan cause the deterioration of water quality in private wells and may even lead to itstotal contamination. In areas, where it is impossible to implement collective sewerage systems, there isan alternative in the form of building septic tanks or household sewage treatment plants. The development of household sewage treatment plants in Poland has been observed fordecades. There were 4000 household sewage treatment plants registered in 1998, whilein 1999 this number increased to 18054. A rapid increase was observed in subsequentyears, i.e. in 2008 there were 51,943 registered household sewage treatment plants, in2010 this number increased to about 81 thousand and in 2011 about 103 thousandtreatment plants were registered. In the near future a dramatic increase in the numberof newly built household sewage treatment plants is expected. The aim of this study was to analyze the efficiency of domestic sewage treatmentin a household sewage treatment plant with a ...

Analysis of sewage inflow variability to a sewage treatment plant for the agglomeration of Dębica

The paper analyzes the variability of sewage inflow to a treatment plant in Dębica. For this purpose, the following basic descriptive statistics of the sewage inflow to the treatment plant were determined: mean value (Qdm), median (Mo), minimum value (Qdmin), maximum value (Qdmax), standard deviation (), coefficient of variation (Vzm), range (Ro). Histogram of a number of sewage inflows to the treatment plant for the specified observation intervals was determined. Detailed diurnal raw sewage inflows to the treatment plant in Dębica were summarized for the period of 2009-2015 compared to the limit value specified by the water-legal permit and the to the mean value. Mean diurnal sewage flow values for individual months from the period of 2009-2015 were also summarized. Mean diurnal sewage flows in individual years of the studied period, as well as mean diurnal sewage flow values in each day of the week were compared. Moreover, runoff data were obtained from the Tarnów station (the nearest rainfall station to the studied facility) and on this basis mean values of diurnal precipitation for individual months in the period of 2009-2015 were determined. Subsequently, the days of the study period were divided into 7 major groups based on the amount ...

The efficiency of pollutant elimination in the Dobra treatment plant

This study was aimed to conduct an analysis of the efficiency of pollutant elimination in the Dobra treatment plant, which operates based on the SBR reactor. The object purifies domestic sewage and pre-treated industrial sewage from a slaughterhouse within the Dobra municipality. The source material for the analysis comprised the values of pollution indicators: BOD5, CODCr, total suspended solids (TTS) in raw sewage (19 samples) and treated sewage (34 samples). The results of chemical analyses were obtained in the period 2007-2014. The results were compared with the limit values imposed by the Regulation (2014). The coefficient of reliability of the treatment plant was also calculated in this study. The average efficiency of pollutant elimination in the treatment plant was: BOD5 - 98.6%, CODCr - 94.9%, total suspended solids - 97.6%. These results demonstrate that the studied facility operates flawlessly and the treatment efficiency is high. On the other hand, the reliability coefficient values indicate that the operation of this object is unstable. ...
