Attempt of estimation of hydyometorological factors influencing on deadwood quantity on area the Uroczysko Warta floodplain forest

The Uroczysko Warta is one of most important concentrations of floodplain forest in Poland. Building of the Jeziorsko reservoir contributed to change of the Warta River regime (limitation of surface overflows, their frequencies), what in consequence negatively influencing on floodplain forest areas. Flood plain forests are the richest and highly picturesque forest ecosystems. Unfortunately, river regulation and flood control contribute to their degradation. In Poland only 0.2% of total area is covered by flood plain forests. The Uroczysko Warta forest district constitutes one of the most important clusters of these sites. The construction of the Jeziorsko reservoir in the middle course of the Warta River has contributed to changes in the river regime (reduced flooding areas and decreased flooding frequency). It seems that the use of simple land improvement systems, i.e. gates, river bars and culverts with flap check valves, may result in the recreation of advantageous hydrological conditions. In such a case storage volume of oxbow lakes would be increased and ground water would be maintained at a higher level over longer periods of time. Planned building of numerous dams on water-courses and devices to dam up water on reservoirs are cheapest methods of enlarging of water ...

Assesment of seasonal occurance of minimum flow for mountain river by Colwell indicies

The study was aimed assessment of seasonal occurrence of minimum flow (MF) for Kamienica Nawojowska river in cross-section Łabowa - right side tributary of Dunajec, by Colwell indices. Input data obtained from Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the National Research Institute in Warsaw, were observation series of daily flows for the years 1983 - 2012. Based on obtained data it was computed the basic indices of minimum flow and the following Colwell's indices: predictability (P), constancy (C) and contingency (M). Moreover it was determined of impact of length record and number of classes discharge on values of P.Based on calculations it was concluded that determined for MF of Kamienica river in cross-section Łabowa, value of P at 43% shows predictability below average level. The contingency determines value of P only in 18%, hence that flows are characterized by insignificant seasonality. Moreover it was conclude that length of record has significant impact on values of predictability. But for larger numbers of classes discharges, this dependency was not found. ...

Construction and operation of domestic wastewater treatment plant under the relevant legislation - part 2

The main aims of the paper are legal requirements demanding to construction and operation of domestic treatment plants. The publication consists of two parts. In these part of article (2nd part) the limitation arising a.i. from local development plans, water protection zones, according to constructions of domestic wastewater treatment plants are pointed. Technical requirements that should be met by locating domestic wastewater treatment plant in real property area are presented. The standards of treated wastewater quality, discharged into water or soil including the requirements to be met depending of location (in or out of agglomeration) are shown. Additionally, cases in which operating application of domestic wastewater treatment plant to the mayor is required, are listed. It was concluded, that part of the domestic wastewater treatment plants, especially those located in agglomeration area, will not met present requirements of the effectiveness of wastewater treatment discharged into surface water, water facilities or soil. In the first part of article (Jawecki i in. 2016) the definition and basic types of domestic wastewater treatment plants was described, required permissions, as well as cases in which it is possible the construction of domestic wastewater treatment plants. ...

Characteristics of hybrid hydrogel materials

Hydrogels (known also as superabsorbents, SAPs-Super Absorbent Polymers) belong to the group of polymers, which has recently become increasingly popular. These compounds are used in many fields, with particular emphasis on medicine and pharmacy. In this paper the synthesis of hydrogels based on chitosan which matrix was modified with products of natural origin (ie. extract of Salvia and bee pollen) and nanoparticles of gold or silver was carried out. The resulting hydrogels were tested for sorption capacity, as well as their tendency to degradation in simulated body fluid was determined. What is more, wettability of the attained materials was also defined. The obtained results confirmed that the introduction of additions to the hydrogel matrix has an impact on the physico-chemical properties of tested materials. ...

Analysis of sewage inflow variability to a sewage treatment plant for the agglomeration of Dębica

The paper analyzes the variability of sewage inflow to a treatment plant in Dębica. For this purpose, the following basic descriptive statistics of the sewage inflow to the treatment plant were determined: mean value (Qdm), median (Mo), minimum value (Qdmin), maximum value (Qdmax), standard deviation (), coefficient of variation (Vzm), range (Ro). Histogram of a number of sewage inflows to the treatment plant for the specified observation intervals was determined. Detailed diurnal raw sewage inflows to the treatment plant in Dębica were summarized for the period of 2009-2015 compared to the limit value specified by the water-legal permit and the to the mean value. Mean diurnal sewage flow values for individual months from the period of 2009-2015 were also summarized. Mean diurnal sewage flows in individual years of the studied period, as well as mean diurnal sewage flow values in each day of the week were compared. Moreover, runoff data were obtained from the Tarnów station (the nearest rainfall station to the studied facility) and on this basis mean values of diurnal precipitation for individual months in the period of 2009-2015 were determined. Subsequently, the days of the study period were divided into 7 major groups based on the amount ...

Influence of tratment plant location on temperature of inflowing sewage

The aim of the research was to get the expertise, how location of wastewater treatment plant to basin of sewage system influences the temperature of inflowing wastewater. The analysis included four sewage systems, which are different for the sake of length of transit canal between treatment plant and residential buildings, in which domestic sewage was produced. In analysed systems sewage flew into the treatment plants with hydraulic capacity range from 100 to 300 m3•d-1, and with population equivalent less than 2000. Measurements of temperature of air and wastewater outflowing from sewage system, in analysed year 2012, were conducted continuously, with 1 hour interval, with use resistance sensors connected with data recorder. The research showed, that the distance of treatment plant to basin of sewage system has a significant impact on wastewater temperature outflowing from sewage system. In winter period mean daily wastewater temperature outflowing from transit manifolds with length from 300 to 600 m was lower even about 3oC, but in summer period up to 8oC, in comparison to transit manifolds with length less than 10 m. Moreover, it was proved that, apart from length of transit manifold, also intensity of wastewater flow has a significant impact on wastewater ...
