Conditions for agricultural production in the rural areas of Lower Silesia

The research presented shows the conditions of agricultural production in the rural areas of Lower Silesia seen from the angle of chosen features character-istic for the functioning of agriculture and arable farming. The research covered 133 rural and rural-urban districts in dolnoslaskie voivodeship. To achieve the goal intended for this research the following features were used: soil, size struc-ture of farms, population which has their own source of income from their farms of 100 ha of farmlands, the tax on agricultural activities. The research has con-firmed a great influence of usefulness of fertile soil on the farming situation in the region. A departure from this rule is observed in the area of influence of Wroclaw agglomeration, where, despite the high quality of farmlands the share of popula-tion which is supported by farming (a plot of farmland) expressed in 100ha is relatively low. ...

Proceedings in case of accidents in the rail transport of hazardous materials in the border areas of Ukraine

Railway network disappears. The technical condition of railway infrastruc-ture is not satisfactory. Environmental protection against failures in railway transport is part of the European Union's policy. Rail transport includes the transportation of hazardous materials. Rail transport is mainly passenger trans-port. This is national and international transport. Protecting human life and health is the responsibility of each rail cartier. This is an obligation of the interna-tional rulet. Inspection of Environmental Protection is working with Transport Railway Inspectorate. Interoperability concerns also prevent accidents in railway transport. It also help in disaster recovery. Documenting and analyzing failures in transport i spart of transport materials and people. International cooperation should be aimed at improving rail infrastructure. ...

Technical condition of forest fire roads based on the Kłobuck Forest Division

Fires are the major threats to forest ecosystems. In the years 1990-2008 a total of 168.2 thousand forest fires were recorded in Poland over a total area of 170.3 thousand ha. Only in 2008 a total of 7850 forest fires broke out and 2514 ha stands burned down. In the same year in forested areas administered by the State Forests National Forest Holding there were 3306 fires, covering the area of 663 ha. This amounts to 42% in terms of the number and 26% in terms of the af-flicted area of the total number of forest fires in Poland. The forest hazard for for-est complexes forces the entities managing them to undertake actions required by the Polish regulations, consisting in e.g. the establishment and maintenance of an adequately dense network of roads, referred to fire roads. They are an important component of the forest fire hazard monitoring system as well as have a consider-able effect on the efficiency, effectiveness and safety of the conducted fire-fighting activities. This study analyzed the technical condition of almost 50 kilometers of roads considered to be fire access roads in a state forest division in southern Po-land. As a result of the conducted survey it ...

Analysis of factors affecting prices of agricultural and building plots on an example of Bochnia commune

Real estate market is a crucial factor of economic growth. However, the market is imperfect due to a lack of adequate data resources not only about prop-erty price trends but also about factors affecting the attractiveness of the terrains as the basis for market price trend [Gawroński, Prus, 2005].The paper attempts at an analysis of the influence of selected factors on price trends for building and ag-ricultural plots in the area of Bochnia commune. It has been demonstrated that prices of building plots are primarily dependant on the shape of a plot and its dis-tance from the city centre. The studies comprised also the building plots which had a possibility to connect to technical infrastructure. In case of agricultural plots, the important factors affecting their prices were the shape of a plot and the land slope. ...

Transformations of the infrastructural organization structure in rural areas of the Śląskie Voivodeship

The goal of the article is an assessment of changes in spatial management of the rural areas in the Śląskie Voivodeship (Upper Silesia Region). The assess-ment covered both the level of infrastructural organization in general and its indi-vidual components, however the research specially focused on water supply and sewerage system, gas grid and road network. Analyzed were all rural communes of the Śląskie Voivodeship in the years 2004-2008.Conducted analysis revealed significant changes both in the level and structure of the analysed phenomenon. An average level of infrastructural organi-zation was growing during the whole analysed period. The level of individual components of infrastructure development in the area was also growing, however the rate of density indicator growth computed for each of them was different. From year to year the structure of infrastructure development was under-going increasingly smaller transformations but the exception was the final ana-lyzed year 2008. The most serious changes in the structure of the investigated area were observed regarding the sewerage system, lesser changes were evident for wa-ter supply system and the least concerned gas grid.In conclusion it should be said that despite the increase in average level of infrastructure development in rural communes of the Śląskie Voivodeship in 2004-2008, ...

Preparations for the road transport logistics of hazardous materials on the example of border Podkarpackie

Transport of dangerous materials and their distribution encompasses the risk of damage to the environment. The international transport of dangerous ma-terials is controlled. Choosing the road transport depends on its quality. Trans-port of dangerous materials is a passenger transport network. Prevention of acci-dents is to protect human health and life. The threat is direct and indirect. Multi-directional transport operations by road requires special preparation of a number of civilian and uniformed services. When an accident occurs in the envi-ronment is required for its removal and restoration of the land. The laws govern-ing who can make site remediation. Transport infrastructure in the international and national system is an important part of the country's economy. State of the transport network is a barrier to economic development. The free market of the European Union and the possibility of competition is the development of different transport modes. Road transport is predominant in Poland and decide on access to domestic and foreign capital.     ...
